Assorted Thoughts

8 April 2014; AT5 = 1063 hours; total class time = 2001 hours; TV = 714.3 hours

There’s an interesting (in my opinion) conversation going on concerning thinking in foreign languages and the impact that your native language can have on your understanding of, and speaking abilities in, a second language; the conversation started with a post called Thinking in a foreign language (on the blog Self Taught Japanese) and also spun off into the comments section of Deeply Engrained, a previous post on this blog.

Please feel free to add your thoughts, observations etc — I’m always curious to hear other people’s perspectives; but also note that I will soon be taking one of my periodic trips out of Bangkok — and away from my computer — which unfortunately means that there may be a delay in getting some of the comments posted.
